We are an organization led by a Theravada Buddhist Monk, Bhante Subodha. We promote the practice of meditation, morality, concentration, wisdom, love, and kindness towards all sentient beings. We understand that there is suffering or unsatisfactoriness in life. Most of it is rooted in our unwholesome thought, behavior, action, and desire.
We are the source of our own suffering. We practice with the intent to alleviate and eliminate our own suffering. This is the message of the Buddha. In this difficult time, characterized by war, violence, racism, dividedness, suffering, and hate, we want to invite you to sit down with us and practice with the intention to be part of the solution. We meet in person and online for our practice and classes and we welcome people of all faiths, Buddhist and non-Buddhist.
We envision a world awakened by wisdom and compassion — a global community where people live with mindfulness, harmony, and loving-kindness guided by the Dhamma. The Vimutti Dhamma Community Center aspires to be a sanctuary for inner peace and understanding, where the Buddha’s teachings inspire personal liberation (vimutti) and collective well-being. Through education, service, and spiritual friendship, we strive to cultivate hearts that are free from greed, hatred, and delusion, contributing to a more peaceful and compassionate world.
