Providing Meals to a Shelter in Bronx

Volunteers gathered at the temple kitchen at 7.45 am on Saturday, the 18th of November to start meal preparation. This time, our team was tasked to cook hot lunch meals for over 100 people at a nearby homeless shelter. We had a limited number of ingredients and the team led by a professional chef came up with a menu ahead of time. We prepared rice & beans, spaghetti in marinara, macaroni & cheese, tuna salad and boiled eggs. Once prepared, volunteers packed the food into large trays to be transported to the shelter. Food was delivered to the shelter, and we handed over 15 cooked food trays to the person-in-charge. In order to keep the programs at our community kitchen running, we are seeking help from more volunteers to join us. Please contact the temple if you are interested.
